  • It's almost time for Candy Days again

Every year my sister, my mother, my niece and I get together to make a BUNCH of candy.  We all give most of our candy away but we do a bit of sampling as we go along.  It all started out with just my sister helping our mom make candy when she got too frail to handle it all by herself and it's grown a bit over the years.  It's a three day event now and we all look forward to it. We work hard and long, but we have a ball doing it, then afterwards we have a "post mortem" and make notes to ourselves for next year.  The trick is to actually READ the notes from last year BEFORE you start making the candy.

  • On The Road Again . . .

My husband I and traveled to Houston this past week end to go to the wedding of the son of Mike's best high school buddy.  It was quite a wedding!  Actually it was more like a combination wedding/worship service.  The bride and groom both come from strong Christian homes and they wanted to use the occasion of their wedding to witness.  Like I said, it was quite a wedding.

It had taken a little doing for us to get there.  Our car began acting up around Madisonville and we were trying to limp in to Magnolia where Mike's brother lives, but the car completely died about 25 miles from his home.  He and his wife came to our rescue in separate cars. . . we drove off to the wedding in his car while they took care of calling the tow truck and getting our car to the Pontiac dealership in Conroe.  We made it to the church with 14 minutes to change clothes and get seated.

After the wedding, Mike's brother told us to go ahead and drive his car back to Dallas and we'd switch cars whenever ours was repaired.  (He's a good brother)  This morning we got the call that the car is ready and so I'll be leaving momentarily to drive to Conroe and make the car swap.  I'm taking some audio books in the car with me.  It seems to make the miles go by faster than just listening to music.

  • Computer Problems Revisited . . .

My friend George, the computer systems engineer was at our house till almost 11:00 o'clock last night and we still don't have a computer that we can boot up.  I can boot up in SAFE mode, but in safe mode you can't go to the internet, and you only have five colors. . . black, gray, white, red and blue.  Actually, my screen saver is kind of interesting in safe mode.  It's sort of stylized and looks posterized.  Thank goodness I can still get to the web via my work computer, but all must be brief.   Looks like it's time to buy a new computer.  AARRGGHHHHH.

  • Computer Problems . .

Alas, my home computer is in intensive care.  I can't boot it, not even with a boot disk in the A drive.  Ever since I hooked my new printer up my scanner stopped working, and when we tried to fix that my computer quit working.  Ain't technology wonderful.  I'm blogging this from work so I must be brief.
