Scenic Gazebo

My sister and I had stopped to take pictures of a very old historical stone building and found this wonderful gazebo complete with a view of the river as we walked around to the back of the building. As we were taking our many pictures we met a man from the other side of the river, who surely must have been from the Chamber of Commerce, because he just couldn’t find enough good things to say about his town. We asked him where, at that time of evening, we might be able to find an ice cream shop that served real hand dipped ice cream. He of course said we should try his fair city or if we were not concerned about getting lost we might try a place called Port Deposit about 8 or 10 miles away.
Well, we had no strict time schedule to keep and we had long ago discovered that it can be just as much fun when you do get lost . . . so we decided to go for the more adventurous option and listened intently to his directions on how to get to Port Deposit. We drove straight to it and were pleased to find it a sleepy little town on the river at the foot of a HUGE hill. I’m torn between calling it a huge hill or a small mountain. At any rate we’re talking BIG.

The town was one block wide and about seven or eight blocks long. There were houses, businesses and churches all mingled together in that small space. It was already getting too dark to get any good pictures so we found the ice cream shop and treated ourselves to a flavor that neither one of us had ever heard of . . . Moose Tracks. It was love at first lick.

We liked the town so much we decided to come back the next morning when the light would be better, which is when these pictures were taken. We spent several hours walking around and filling our digital cameras before finally leaving and I think we should have had another Moose Tracks cone before we left, because we never made it back to Port Deposit the rest of the trip.

We simply ran out of days. But it sure was fun.
The bottom picture is my favorite. Its almost magical somehow, like stepping into a fairy-tale.
Yup. I’m a sucker for gates and wrought iron fences and this one was a beauty.
I love very much the first photo ; It is so much romantic . The lanscape with the gazebo looks like a dream .
Love Michel
…great pics and stories to go with them!!! Why do gazebos, many times, not have seating???

…hope we see pics of spring blooming at your house and the discoveries awaiting you. A pic of the pink crocus would be nice, love pink flowers, the colour is so delicate.
Now I’m not even sure it’s a crocus. My sister Alice posted a picture of a purple crocus from her yard and that’s not at all what my flower looks like. She is much better at identifying flowers than I am. MUCH better.
