  • I think we're finally through with the front yard, at least for this year.  My hubby and I have put a lot of time and effort into landscaping it in the last three weeks.  We've been in our house for just over a year now and up until a couple weeks ago we'd been so preoccupied with interior projects that we had little time to worry about the outside. But we eventually started thinking about what we should do to at least the front, because you could hardly see the house for all the large bushes.  We took some of those out and also took out the rotting landscaping timbers and put in stones instead and then planted flat after flat of Perry Winkles.  I think we've achieved a somewhat cleaner and fresher look.

Since you can barely see the Perry Winkles in this picture I'm also including a close up of the the hardy little blooms.

It was a very bad day at work today, so I decided to post a peaceful picture to sooth my nerves. A place that I would gladly have traded my day at the office for.  At first when we had our last big round of layoffs at work I was relieved that I didn't get the axe, or at least relieved that my pay check wasn't going to get the axe.  But now I'm rethinking that.  Perhaps it would have been better to be laid off than to survive the cut.  With fewer workers it means a lot more work for all of us who are still there and it's beginning to take it's toll on everyone.  Nerves are raw and people are short with each other and the hours are wearing me down.

I'm so looking forward to taking some vacation time with my sister in early October and I really don't care if the office folds or not while I'm gone.  But October seems so very far away. . . six looooong weeks.  But, perhaps I'll feel better about the whole situation after a good night's sleep.
