That's me at the top of this hill.  My sister Alice and I were hiking in Withrow Springs State Park on our recent vacation in Arkansas, and we must have climbed this particular hill at least three times.  You see as we were climbing we decided we needed pictures of each other to prove we'd actually trecked such steep trails, so we each went back down so we could get a picture of the other one at the top.  Then we decided that we also needed pictures of ourselves using OUR OWN cameras so we had to repeat the process each using the other's camera.  But then we do love hiking and it really was good exercise.

This is another one of the many lovely Victorian homes we saw while walking the neighborhoods of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I especially like the bell tower, or turret or whatever they're called on Victorian houses.  I suspect that Eureka Springs has plenty of other types of homes too, but since we spent the majority of our "neighborhood walking" time in the historic sections of Eureka Springs, that's why the preponderance of pictures with a Victorian flavor.

This was one of the residential streets my sister Alice and I walked along in Eureka Springs.  I liked the blue morning glories on this fence trying to outshine the color showing in the trees.  The trees were just beginning to turn the first days of our vacation and were well on there way to being spectacular by the time we left Arkansas.

I don't suppose many people consider walking around unfamiliar neighborhoods and taking pictures of houses as very "vacation-like", but that's one of the things that my sister Alice and I like to do when we take vacations together.  This front porch filled with it's row of patiently waiting rockers caught my eye.  I took three different shots of the house, but I really like this angle the best.   We were in Eureka Springs, Arkansas where we spent two days of our vacation.  It's a wonderfully picturesque little town just brimming with Victorian homes, parks and flowers galore.

  • Mt. Petit Jean

Here's one of the many spectacular views from atop Mt. Petit Jean in Arkansas.  My sister Alice and I visited three mountain in all during our 9 day vacation in Arkansas, and I think Petit Jean was my favorite.  You're so high up that you can see for miles and miles.  We managed to average 2 or 3 miles of hiking per day and enjoyed every minute of it.

And here the two of us are resting on a split rail fence.  The fence was surrounding the Pioneer Cabin located on Mt. Petit Jean.  We realized after the trip that we didn't ask nearly enough fellow vacationers to take our picture together.  We only had a few from this trip.  We'll remember that next time.
