  • Gate to Oxford Graveyard               Photo and enhancement by Chris Duffy

In case you’re counting, this does not technically count as a photo of a graveyard, because I’m standing outside the graveyard and so think of it more as a picture of the gate and the bicycle.  I was really blown away at how many people get around in Oxford on bicycles.  They far outnumbered the cars we saw.  Now, we did see a lot of bikes out in the country towns too, but never to the extent we saw in Oxford . . . but then it is a college town.  They even had their own lanes on the city streets.

  • Chris, I found my way to you by way of your sister. Lovely photos. So nice of you to share them. –Elaine

  • Well that was a quick response. I’m pleased that you enjoyed my poetry. Yes, I write it. Often it’s based on true events, though the latest poem is more fiction than not.–Elaine

  • I wonder how fast the prices of gasoline would go down if we all took to bicycles and our health would improve at the same time.  The only bad thing we don’t talk about, I believe the rubber for tires is a petroleum product.  I think we are caught between a rock and a hard place.  But again, less car travel, less tires for the cars.  You know this is a battle we can’t win.  We all work somewhere and all the money we make is traded around to and for each other.  People have to work somewhere, we can’t all go back to farming and none of us know how anymore anyway.

Maybe we had all better learn to walk again, grow some vegetables, can a little, milk our cows, grow a few sheep, spin the wool and weave cloth and become tighter knit villages and neighbors.  LOL, Cold day in hell anymore.

  •  :nono: Hey, I see a tomb stone… I’m counting it.  :giggle:
