  • Broadway shop door                        Photo and enhancement by Chris Duffy

Nothing special about this shop door in Broadway, England . . . I just liked it.  It’s unusual.  See the eight panes of glass in the top of the door?  The middle of each pane looks like the bottom of a wine bottle.  They are obviously hand made.  I guess that’s another reason I liked them.

I can tell you again that great progress is being made on the “new computer” front.  I can get to the internet and I’ve gotten my e-mail working again.  I had to key in all my contacts a second time because of the QUICK RESTORE.  I’ve installed Paint Shop Pro, Calendar Creator Plus and Sticky Notes, as well as most of my data/picture files.  I have 3 more CDs of data to transfer out of 11 so that’s about 72% complete.  Then I’ll load Office 2003.  Then the only thing I’ll need to complete it is to activate my AntiVirus and Security software.  I think my hubby thinks I’m glued to the chair, so I’ll have to take a short hiatus from the computer once I get it all done.  Maybe that’s another Father’s Day gift I’ll give him.   One whole day without me going to the computer room.  Hmmmmm.  I don’t know if I can actually DO that though.

Oh, and by the way, Alice has posted a BUNCH of pictures of her new house and I must say she’s done a WONDERFUL job in two short weeks.

  • Is your husband as addicted to computers as you?  If not, how do you cope? lol

I was looking at the pic thinking the shop is special.  The glass is very old, panes cut from huge curved blown glass, not moulded.  In the door is bottle glass, thick and greenish often. Given the fact that Broadway is all antique shops anyway, its probably original.

My mind flashed back on a special dinner at the Lygon Arms my father took me to.  I think until I came on your site I hadn’t thought of the Midlands of England for many years. Its been great, all these memories flooding back.  Thank you.

  • SavonDuJour, the answer to your questions would be NO, he is not. He spends as little time on the computer as he can.  And ONLY at work. He certainly wouldn’t consider being on the computer at night entertaining.

I have a pretty good shot of the Lygon Arms, so I’ll have to enhance it and use it one of these days.

  • Those glass windows were what I zeroed in on as soon as my page was loaded.  I wager that door is heavy also.  I could live with that one in my door.  Loved the pic.

I went over Alice photos with a fine tooth comb last night.  She has made some awesome progress.  Love her gardens.

  • Thanks for the link, Chris. I love those glass windows in the door, too. I see you and me going through that door someday  wink

  • I noticed the wood of the door first, but even before that the window to the right caught my eye.

Now if you will excuse me I’m off to Alice’s house before it gets dark.

  • I love this door!  :heartbeat:Love it love it!
I went by and saw all the pics of Alices home. It’s beautiful. :spinning:
