A really short note to tell you that the gum surgery went fine.  I thought I'd be back at work today, but that might have been a little bit optimistic.  It doesn't hurt nearly as much as it did when I had my tooth implant, but enough that I'm not up to par.  My cheek looks like a chipmunk and whatever I drink has that extra hint of blood to it.  Not a good taste, but the dentist is pleased with his handywork, so I am too.  At one point in the surgery (you're very groggy, but not totally out) I remember hearing my dentist tell his assistant that they got a goodly amount of tissue and that it'd be a shame to waste it, so they went ahead and did one of the other teeth they were planning on doing in the next session, which will be sometime next year.

This has been a week end of "Honey Do's".  Not just for my husband . . . for both of us. He had his list of chores to do and I had my list of things I wanted to get done and we did it all plus went to some friends house on Saturday evening for a delightful dinner.

I'm having gum surgery Wednesday, and I just felt it was important to get all my "to do's" done before then.  Who knows how perky I'll feel afterward.  If it's anything like when I had my tooth implant, I won't be a happy camper for several weeks.  But I don't think it'll be the same as that experience.  I kind of think I might lose weight again, because the dentist said that I'd be on a liquid diet for a couple weeks until the gums heal up.  I'm worried mostly though, about the roof of my mouth, because that's where they get the tissue from to graft to my gums.  YUCK.  Makes me sick just thinking about it.

Did I ever tell you that I went Parasailing when we vacationed in Puerto Vallarta some years ago?  I did, and it scared me spitless, but I did it anyway.  Hubby did it two hours earlier than I did and it took me that long to work up the courage.  I had intended to get some terrific pictures from such a lofty view, but once up there, I was holding on to the bars for dear life.  I can't think of anything that would have made me think it might be worth taking my hands off the bars, although, they do have you strapped in and it supposedly would take a contortionist to actually fall out of the harness.  It was a beautiful view and a wonderful experience, but I'm glad I don't have to prove that to myself again.

And here I am about to come in for a landing.  The way they swing you around behind that boat with all that centrifical force, I was SURE I was going to smash into the front of the hotel, but in all actuality I was not even close to it.  My heart was going lickity split.

  • My husband and I have been baby sitting for the last two weeks . . . or perhaps I should say tomato sitting, but that sounds weird.  Our next door neighbors went to London on a business/vacation trip and asked us to baby sit their tomato plant while they're gone.  We've been promised some tomatoes if we do our job right and keep the plant alive.  Mostly we're just supposed to give it a spot in the yard that gets sunlight, but not ALL DAY sunlight.  Done.  Then we're supposed to give it a drink of water once a day, but with all the rain we've gotten lately, we've only had to water it two times.  Tomorrow young Mr. Tomato goes back home to his mommy and daddy.  Then he's their baby again.  My hubby wants GREEN tomatoes though, not red ripe ones.  Visions of fried green tomatoes are dancing around in his head.
