  • What a Surprise!

As Gomer Pyle was fond of saying, "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!"  I'm flabergasted!  I had no idea I had any yellow lilies planted out front with all those marvelous pink ones, but just as the last petals were falling off the pink ones, this beautiful yellow one pops open.  Actually I should have realized it was different, because whereas the pink ones each had 28 to 35 blooms per plant, this yellow one has only 5 buds on the one stem.   I should check to see if any of those other lilies that haven't bloomed yet only have 5 or 6 buds per plant.  But what puzzles me, is why didn't I have a yellow one LAST year.  I didn't plant ANY of these lilies.  They were a huge surprise and delight to me the first spring after we bought this house.  This is our third spring here and this is the first time I've seen the yellow lilies.  Oh Joy, Joy JOY!
