It's a lamb's ear leaf in my front yard after the sprinkler system had done it's thing. I thought the close up looked rather like some sort of blood vessels inside a body, but it's just the water sticking those tiny tiny little hairs on the lamb's ear together.

What a wonderfully lazy week end we had. Other than going to church we didn't do a blessed thing. Just relaxed, took a couple walks, cooked, ate and watched a couple movies on TV. One of them was "The Farmers Daughter" with Loretta Young. We love watching old black and white movies on Sunday afternoons. Heck, I just realized I didn't even get any groceries on Saturday. You see, we're "resting up" before our granddaughter comes to visit for a whole week. We have a whole laundry list of things we're going to try to do while she's here, and if successful, not only will Trini sleep well each night, but so will grandma and grandpa.

It's silly, I know, but here's a picture of the carrying case I made for my new camera. I made it out of an old pair of jeans. The strap is long enough that I can wear it over one shoulder, or I can run it through the loop on the strap and wear it around my waist when I'm hiking. It's just large enough to hold the camera and 2 back up AA batteries. I also put a tiny pocket on the back just big enough to hold an extra media card. And when you're hiking, that's about all you need . . . your camera, extra batteries and an extra media card. . . well I mean camera wise anyway. You gotta have a good walking stick too and of course a survival pack.

Be careful what you wish for. Just a few short weeks ago I was so busy here at work that I couldn't see straight. I wished for it to slow down a bit. Well, it's slowed down to an absolute crawl. I have received 3 emails today. . . THREE. I usually get around 60 a day, and today just 3. I mean, how many games of solitaire can you play on a computer before you go crazy? I've played solitaire and minesweep just to keep from falling asleep. All three bosses are out of town and I know of at least 3 of the sales reps who are on vacation, so there's just nothing going on here at the office. And boredom is not a good thing . . . that's when I generally hit the vending machine. NOT GOOD. So far today I've managed to resist, but it's only 8 minutes after 2:00.
OH, a phone call. . . . . . . . . It was my husband. So now I guess I'll go back to reading the owners manual on my new camera. . . the second time.

Back to juxtaposition pictures. This is the view out my 5th floor office window at work. That's the Ericcson's building you can see in the background, and those Long Horn cattle belong to EDS (they get a tax write off if they have cattle on your land).
Here's the Long Horns up a little closer. They seemed gentle as lambs when I pulled my car over to the side of the road to get this picture. They had been facing the other direction, but when I got out of my car, they all turned around to see what was happening. But then when they realized it was just this crazy lady taking their picture they quickly went back to eating. I can understand why you wouldn't want one of them mad at you though. They really ARE Long Horns.

I thought immediately of Alice when I saw these daisies, because daisies are one of her favorite flowers. I believe her wedding bouquet was made up of daisies. Actually, maybe this picture isn't really of a daisy but some sort of cone flower, but I tend to think of them all as being in the daisy family.
And below is a shot of the same daisies from a little farther distance.
As you can see, they really aren't daisies after all. They are metal sculptures of the humble flower, and they are located on one of the main drags in downtown Colorado Springs. I couldn't resist taking a shot just for Alice.

Doesn't that just make you think of the wild wild west. . . out in the middle of nowhere. Well, it's actually inside the city limits of Colorado Springs. In fact, if I hadn't forgotten to save the picture in it's original state, I could have shown you that their are businesses to the right, left and down at the foot of this hill. I believe one of them was a Harley-Davidson shop if memory serves me right. I know it's not a very big mountain as mountains go, but you have to admit, it's pretty big for a landscaping stone. And this was taken from the window of our moving car. Colorado is beautifully rugged.

Did I ever mention that I love gates?
I finally bit the bullet and went to the eye doctor. My vision has been getting a little worse and here lately it's been getting blurred around 1 or 2 in the afternoon at work and then by the time I drive home I've got significant double vision. Although I can see well enough to see the other cars, I'd be hard pressed to read anybody's license tag numbers or read the street signs, so it's a very good thing that I only have 4 miles to drive home from work. When I told the eye doctor that I could read his charts better if I'd blink, but only for a moment, he immediately suggested that I start taking a vitamin supplement that helps the eyes' tearing system to work better. It's a combination of fish oil, flax oil and boraye oil (what ever that is). I'll let you know how it works.

The picture above is of some beautiful Clematis growning on a house somewhere in OKC. Of course, I had to call Alice just now to find out what the name of the flower was, because as we all know, remembering the names of flowers is just not my forte.
And here is a close up of another growth of Clematis.
The college reunion was a success . . somewhat disorganized, but a success nonetheless. We saw folks we hadn't seen in over 30 years. Some were fellow students from the 60's, and some were my husband's students from the late 60's and early 70's. Then there were several of the other professors from various years. What a treat.
