  • Well, if it isn't one thing, it's another.

While I was eating lunch today . . . well, actually dessert . . . one of my molars broke.  At first I thought it was just the crown that came off, because that has happened to me once before on another tooth.  But NO . . . such was not the case.  My tooth actually broke off at the root line along with the crown.  I called the dentist right away and he said I could come in tomorrow morning and he'd take a look at what the situation is.  I already know the answer.  First he'll have to dig out the roots of this molar and then we'll have to wait for that to heal and then we start the process of a tooth implant.  I really don't look forward to that.  First of all, it's pretty expensive, and secondly it left me with a massive headache that lasted about a month the other time I had to do one of these.  You see, I don't have any molars to spare.  As it is, I can only chew on one side so I really need this molar.

    But I can't complain . . . I COULD live in New Orleans.

  • Hi. Random props. We have the same forst name. ROCK ON THE REST OF THE CHRISTINES ON THIS EARTH. hehehe.

  • Oh my  I had that happen to me but they were able to "save" the tooth. The dentist put a small rod in the root canal then just "cemented" the tooth back together. That was almost ten years ago and he said it should last 30 more years. Hopefully you will be as lucky. I'll pray that it will be so. HUGS

  • Well, I've seen cuts, boils and bruises on blogs, but this is the first tooth.  :giggle:

Warren went in to have his permanent crown put on today after having a temp crown on for a few weeks. He had an abscess in the root, so the dentist wants to do a root canal. I think Warren is going to have him pull it instead. It's his only good chewing side, too, but you know Warren. He doesn't want to spend a thousand dollars for a tooth.  :(

  • Oh my goodness! This does sound extensive and expensive! Do you happen to have TMJ? I get a headache whenever I have to have my mouth open very wide or for very long. My dentist understands my TMJ and gives me time to relax my jaw every 20 min or so. Helps a lot!

  • Yipes! I have horrible teeth. Most of my molars and a couple of bicuspids are crowns. I don't need to start implanting. Mike

  •   Me too. The exact same -- the whole tooth, crown & all, cracked off just about at the gum line a couple of months ago. I haven't had the courage to find out how much it costs because I'm sure it's way more $$ than I have -- oral surgeon to do the excavation, and then another implant. I need to win the lottery!

  • I'm sorry to hear about your teeth problem.  That's terrible!

No you couldn't.  I don't think that anyone is living in New Orleans now, however there are several who used to live there.   :(
