  • Mom chopping cherries for the chocolate covered cherries.

Jackie dividing up the peanut brittle.  Oops, I think she just dropped a piece.

Alice working with the white chocolate covered pretzels.

These are just a few shots from this past week end's Candy Days.  This year we held it at Alice's house, and it took us two and a half days to make all the candy on our list.  Even though we made a little less candy than in years past, we still managed to have the same amount of fun as always.

  • Tomorrow my daughter-in-law will drive to Dallas and we'll transfer everything over into my car and then I'll drive from Dallas to Oklahoma City where we're having Candy Days this year.  It'll be good to all be together again and up to our elbows in chocolate, although we've all determined that we're going to do less sampling this year.  Last year I figured it up and we had made a total of 64 pounds of candy.  We'll make a little less this year, because I'm retired now and won't be taking any candy to the office, nor to Mike's office and I won't be having our annual Christmas party this year either and that took a goodly amount.  But Candy Days is a good tradition and a lot of fun.

  • WHEW!!!!!   I'm finished writing thank-you's.  I wrote 74 today for a total of 148  in all.  I got home from worship service this morning at around 10:30 and other than heat up a bowl of soup for lunch and again for supper, I've done nothing today but write thank-you's. May I never write another thank-you card again in my life!

  • Another house on Maine Street in Quincy, Illinois

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have sent so many kind words my way since the untimely death of my husband, Mike.  I have truely appreciated the show of concern and affection from the Xanga family.  Thanks for your encouragement.

  • Does anyone know what kind of flowers the green ones are?  I don't think I've EVER seen a flower with green petals, and this arrangement had two different kinds.  Any ideas?

  • Alice was at my house in Texas for 5 days this past week.  The house above is, by the way, NOT my house in Texas.  It's a house in Quincy, ILL.  Alice left this morning, and while she was here she was great moral support.  She was helping me with all the paperwork involved with my husband's death, but that's not all we did.  Each evening after accomplishing all we could during business hours we'd spend time either playing Scrabble or playing on the computer.  The picture above is an example of some of what she taught me about using Photo Shop. I've always used Paint Shop Pro, because I'm more familiar with it, but she says that Photo Shop is a lot more robust software package.  So . . . I'm learning.  Thanks, Alice.
