  • Cottage in Lower Slaughter in England

I'm so excited.  Someone gave me a gift certificate to Kodak.com and I finally used it to order myself a 2006 calendar with 13 of my favorite pics from my husband's and my trip to England.  I chose 13 of the ones that I've already manipulated to make them look like paintings.  I can hardly wait . . .but it won't get here for 2 weeks.

  • So cool :goodjob:

  • Oh, Chris, you have the artistic eye like your sister! Your photos are so moving; I wonder how you picked only 13 for your calendar. I saw a couple from Banff. I wish we'd done the dogsled ride. Looks like so much fun!

  • I wonder at the beauty of architecture all over but especially in places like England, Ireland, and such where the houses all look so individual!!    It brings the mind the old song about the houses like boxes all made of ticky tacky and they all look the same.   I hate that about typical American houses nowadays.    Right now in our area the houses all have the same types of roof lines, the brickwork look almost identical, etc.

You are lucky to be able to travel.

  • Lower Slaughter is a typical Cotswold Village. Although I live in Cardiff now, my family are originally from Charlbury which is just over the border in Oxfordshire.

  • When did you go to England? My husband and I went in 1981 with a group of Chevrolet Motor Division managers. We had a wonderful time and I have tons of pictures. I loved to visit their gardens and brought back a love of the English garden style of garden. What a hard choice you must have had being only able to use 13. Its a great picture. Have a blessed week & God keep you safe, healthy & happy.  HUGS

  • Ever since we have gotten to know a couple in England, I have wanted to go there.  My sis and her hubby also were there a couple years ago, and between them have seen so many beautiful pictures of the country.  Our friend is a historian of his area, and has sent us a book, calendar and a video of his area.  So gorgeous!

RYC:  Years ago, we were looking at places to move to, and Seattle was a consideration------until I started reading up on it, and saw that it had even more cloudy, rainy weather than we do here.  Decided that Wisconsin is even better than there!!  San Francisco, too.

  • What a nice gift!
