  • Hyacinth, I believe

I thought my cell phone was a gonner today.  When I unplugged it this morning it said “Check SIM”.  Then when I opened it up, it said “Emergency Calls Only”.  I thought it was toast.  I went to the Cingular store as soon as I could make it today (10:30 am) and was mentally preparing myself for having to buy a new phone, but all the guy did was turn it off, take out the battery, take out the SIM card, put the SIM card back in, put the battery back in and turn the phone back on . . . and VOILA, it worked.  When I asked him what had been wrong with it, he said that sometimes phones are like computers . . . when all else fails, REBOOT.

  • That’s good to know, Chris.     Now if i can just remember the steps.     I went to the T-Mobile store the other day for the rep there to reset my clock.   I am definitely electonically challenged.    LOL

  • I’ve been to the Cingular store about three times recently… and it was always my own stupidity. Perhaps I should say “ignorance” instead.

  • I wonder if my cel phone will reboot. We’ve had it forever and replaced the battery a year or two ago. It’s been a fairly dependable phone, the only problem we’ve had with it has been human error (forgetting to recharge it).

RYC, It amazes me that doctors will tell a patient that they will develop something in the next x number of years, since so much of medicine seems to be guess work (altho I realize that it’s educated guesswork). I think that it is wonderful that you’ve not had to deal with diabetes and hopefully you will continue to prove that doctor wrong. I was not surprised by my mom’s diagnosis, others in the family have developed diabetes (or so I’m told, I couldn’t name any except perhaps my great grandmother).

  • My boss had to “reboot” his oven once!
