  • The other day as I was walking out my front door I heard something above me and I looked up to see what it was and was delighted to see this colorful hot air baloon.  I ran back in the apartment as fast as I could to get my camera and got outside just barely in time to get this shot.  It was a breezy morning as I recall and the baloon was traveling at a pretty good clip.

I used to think I'd like to take a ride in one of these things, but ever so often I hear about someone getting killed when their gondola gets tangled up in high voltage electrical wires.  That's enough to stiffle the urge for a while, but they sure are beautiful to watch.

  • Great photo! Yeah, every time I read about an auto accident death, it makes me want to quit driving....not. Mike

  • Don't think I would like to "ride" one of the hot air balloons. I'm afraid of heights. They are really beautiful & I love to watch them.

Have a blessed weekend & God keep you safe, healthy & happy. HUGS

  • I got in one and they tethered me up but I was hooked to the ground.    Pretty safe ride there.   I had a neighbor that got married in one on Halloween.   Interesting.    Have you ever been to a hot air balloon festival?   They are really fun.   People go all day and then at night they all glow with the "fire" in them when they're being blown up (so to speak, :p )    Have a good weekend, Chris.   Gayle

  • We have a balloon festival here at Wiley Post , every year. I don't remember when. One year about 6 of them flew right by my window! What a thrilling sight.:heartbeat::heartbeat:Mom

  • I saw the same one, but it wasn't as close over our house. As I remember it was really moving along fast, too. :sunny:

  • What a colorful balloon!  My mother sometimes hears and then sees one go over her house.  I've watched them take off at the FunFest Balloon Race that they have every year in Kingsport, TN.  That is really something to see!  See http://www.funfest.net/  :sunny:

  • I love to watch the balloons. We have a "Balloon Fest" here every Labor Day weekend, we went last year but it was too windy to do the "glow" where after it gets dark they inflate the balloons and over the loud speakers there's a countdown and all the balloonists blast their torches making the balloons glow, very pretty.
