I wasn't at all sure what this was, but my son said it was called Mexican Bird of Paradise. It made for a gorgeous bush with dozens of these beautiful blooms.
See what the individual blooms look like up close. I'm wondering if this plant would grow in Oklahoma.
I even caught a honey bee collecting pollen. He wasn't concerned about me at all.

Oh wow. That is fantastic! I want one in my yard now!
These flowers look like they are on fire!!
Amazing, I love it!
It is beautiful, but I suspect it doesn't like freezing weather since I never see it around here. There are so many tropicals that can grow in San Antonio. :sunny:
Wow, what a beautiful flower and how unusual too! I've never seen it before. The bush is huge! :fun: Gayle
Wow! That is beautiful! :sunny:
I've never seen one of those flowers before! I doubt that they'd grow with the climate we have here (I can't get much to grow here other than weeds) :p
