End of the Trail.  That's the name of this statue in the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.  We were taken to lunch at the buffet there today.  It's a BEAUTIFUL facility that I haven't been in for 43 years.  You see, it was under construction when I was in college and it was about a half mile from our campus and some of us students used to walk down to the construction site on pretty afternoons.  They had actually halted construction on it for a couple years because of lack of money, so this was really the first time I've ever seen it completed.

Alice and I will probably do it "properly" when we do our sister trip in early October, because all we really saw today was the lobby, the rest room and the buffet area.

Alice and I spent Saturday at the Fair and these are just a few of the pictures we took.  My battery died at about 2PM and Alice's memory card ran out of room around 2:30 . . . or there would have been more pictures of the "All the King's Horses" performance which I believe was the highlight of our day at the Fair.

Remember when I planted my tiny little plot of flowers in front of my apartment back in May? I planted Zinnias, Blackie Sweet Potato and cosmos, however a 4th plant sprang up as well.  It never flowered and I didn't recognize the foliage so I figured it was a weed, but didn't pull it up, because some of it hid an ugly bare spot behind the bush where I hadn't planted anything.

Well TODAY (4 months later) it finally produced blooms.  They are adorable little lavender blooms.  I called Alice and described the flower and she thinks it's 4 o'clocks.  I wonder why it took them so long to bloom?

  • Martin Park Rapids MOVIE

Here's a MOVIE of the same Martin Park Nature Preserve pictured in my previous blog. And, wonder of wonders, I took the movie at the same spot as the still shot, but with a still you just don't get the same feeling. I hope you all can view it. Alice and I had to play with this and figure out just how to upload the movie in Xanga, but when we got into it, it really was pretty straight forward.

To view the movie either double-click on the green triangle in the middle of the pictures or you can single-click on the tiny black triangle in the lower left corner.

I took a hike through the Martin Nature Reserve today. . . that is until it started raining on me. We've had such hot weather this summer and it was so beautiful today that I just had to go. I'd been there years ago and wanted to see it again.  And I was pleasantly surprised at how easily I hiked.  I guess all those work out days at the gym with Alice are indeed making a difference.
