Remember when I planted my tiny little plot of flowers in front of my apartment back in May? I planted Zinnias, Blackie Sweet Potato and cosmos, however a 4th plant sprang up as well.  It never flowered and I didn't recognize the foliage so I figured it was a weed, but didn't pull it up, because some of it hid an ugly bare spot behind the bush where I hadn't planted anything.

Well TODAY (4 months later) it finally produced blooms.  They are adorable little lavender blooms.  I called Alice and described the flower and she thinks it's 4 o'clocks.  I wonder why it took them so long to bloom?

  • those are pretty!   What a delightful surprise!

  • I love volunteers!:heartbeat:

  • You know Chris, it does look like a 4 o'clock, but not exactly. The stamins are a bit longer than the 4 o'clocks that I know about, though the blossom looks the same and the foliage looks like the foliage of 4 o'clocks. Perhaps it is a variety I haven't seen. They are lovely. :sunny:

  • Those are sweet flowers. I don't know what they are though.

  • I'm like Alice they look like 4 o'clocks yet they don't. I'll tell you for sure that they would "go with me even if they had to go as a potted plant." They are beautiful and they may not have bloomed before now because they weren't getting enough sun. Also the rain has caused quite a few of my plants to double in size and start blooming like crazy. Gardening wonders never cease.

Have a blessed weekend & God keep you safe, healthy & happy. HUGS

  • Love "surprises" that come up-----except weeds, of course.
