  • THE WEIRDNESS THAT IS ME . . .

    XANGAMyPiggyBank

I got "tagged" by Alice to blog on 6 weird things about myself.  At first thought it seemed like an impossible task, since I don't really think I'm that weird at all, but then after mulling it over last evening and after getting some hints this morning from Alice on my "weirdness" . . . well here goes.

    * I'm 62 years old, and I still have a piggy bank (pictured above).

    * I actually enjoy paying bills.

    * I am organized . . very organized . . . some might say to an unnatural degree. You see, I have my DVDs alphabetized. Come to think of it, I have my spices alphabetized too.  What? Doesn't everyone?

    * I am gullible to a fault and trust almost everyone, much to the consternation of some of my family members. When my house was still under construction and before we had doors or locks, I left several items at the house so that I wouldn't have to transport them each day (trash can, broom, dustpan, ice chest) and they were all stolen - some items more than once. Alice reminded me of what I had said at the time: "I don't understand why they would take that - - they knew it wasn't theirs".

    * Any job I tackle, I believe in doing it the "right way" no matter how long it takes . . even when I'm in a time crunch and the job doesn't REALLY require such attention to detail, and that sometimes causes me stress. I've remembered a little jingle my dad told me years and years ago. "Be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all".

    * I simply cannot refrain from "righting" letters on a Scrabble board that have been played upside down by other players . . . I just can't leave them that way . . . I am compelled to fix them.

OK, so now I'm supposed to tag 6 other people so they too can blog about their weirdness.

RULES: Each player starts with 6 weird things about themselves (done that).  People who get tagged write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, choose 6 people to be tagged.  Don't forget to leave a comment that says they’ve been tagged and tell them to read your blog.

I've tagged CheriM, RedPoppy1, MissBev, ItzaRoos, Boydcreek, and MimiWi.

  • I have already done this, and cannot come up with 6 more things.  Especially since I did it twice about a year ago!  Never would have thought there were 18 weird things!  But once I started asking my kids and grands for ideas, they found plenty!

I have my spices alphabetized, and was surprised when I found out my ultra-organized sis doesn't.  But she doesn't have as many spices on hand as I do----would never find what I needed if I didn't alphabetize!   Don't do my CD's though, i do them in groups by artist.  Don't have enough DVD's to alphabetize---but if I ever do, would do that, too.  My old videos, of which I have about 125---many of them are movies and tv programs taped from the TV.  Those I have numbered, and then listed in a little notebook as to genre.  May have a news program, movie, a special show on one tape, and they will be listed under "News", "Movies" (or "Children's Movies), and "Specials" along with the video number.  That way, it is easy for the grands to find just what they want.  Also have a section numbered from1 to 125, with what is on each tape---a kind of cross-reference.

But, there is still so much more that I could organize.  I am nowhere near as organized as my sis.  She says she is "anal" about it---and I agree!

And who puts Scrabble letters down upside down???   That would drive me bonkers, too.  Everyone I've played with does it "right"!  lol

  • Okay, what is weird about a 62 yr old having a bank....if it is in the shape of a piggy so what?  I am 62 and I have one on my dryer to collect whatever change comes into the washer.  That change paid lots of tolls on vacation last year with money left over.

I use to be very compulsive and still am with some things.  If I ever get this house so I can organize it and keep it all in its place I may become more organized again.  I can only hope!

  • You sound just like my sister

  • :what-fun: I will have to think about the weirdness that is me. I love your piggy bank, one is never too old to have a cute piggy bank.

  • I  the stained glass! That's a perfect place for it. I'm going to take your "tag" and run with it.............

  • Does the piggy have money in it? Without coins, I'm not sure it counts as weird.

At first, liking to pay bills does seem a bit odd, but considering your organization tendencies, I can see it...I like having things organized. My spices are by size first, then alphabetically. Those are fun things you shared.

My six weird things I think mine were too verbose.

  • To answer ItzaRoos - yes, the piggy bank does contain money.

  • Your piggie bank is very cute!  We collect our loose change in a washed out pasta sauce jar!  The kids have cool banks though http://www.bigbellybanks.com/Bigbellylineup.html The have the dinosaurs, one aqua, one pink!

  • There is no such thing as too organized. I used to be very organized. Now I am one of the most disorganized people I know. Wanna know a secret, I have a piggy bank, too. Mine is a pig with daisy's on it. Very cute! :giggle: Have a great week!

  • I have to say we are two peas in a pod, Chris!!!

  • :sunny: I wish I were organized, the best I can say is that for the most part I can find things. My spices are all in the same place (unless my husband uses something), but they're in no particular order. The only reason any of my music is alphabetized is because the ipod does that automatically (and the husband and kids can't shuffle the order, left on my own my music was always alphabetized). And thanks to my mom, I do have my childhood piggy bank (and it still has money in it, including a $2 bill and a couple of silver dollars)! I did blog on my weirdnesses and of course thought of more that I could have mentioned. Funny how that works isn't it?
