No, don't get excited. This is NOT growing in my yard already. When I was driving over to mom's to do her grocery shopping for her I passed this fence and just had to stop and get a picture. I just love the way wisteria looks when it's blooming, but the problem is it's beautiful only about 2 weeks and then it's not good looking at all. But my oh my, what a show it puts on while it is blooming.
Here's a close up of the clusters.

i agree about the wisteria. i think i've decided against trying to grow it.
One of my favorites. I will have to try to find a photo I took of my 11 year old when she was 1 1/2. She was wearing a tea-colored linen sailor's dress with navy trim, standing in front of a gloriously bloom-laden wisteria. I think part of the reason it's so gorgeous is because it's so "rare" . . .
They are tremendous!
:sunny::smile:Oh my..it's so good to come and visit you and I went down and looked and wow..how wonderful it all is! I can't believe it..goodness..so much is done..it looks wonderful Christrine** :applause: So happy for you...and Alice so close by..:)you both worked hard and it's just great:what-fun:* and that wisteria is soo beautiful...take good care..have a great night* hugs and love, Lee
I knew someone that kept theirs pruned into a tree. I had one once, I know how much work it can be keeping it tamed! I've been noticing them all over here, too. Quite a show! I even saw the back of a house today (from the road) that was completely lined in a white variety--not nearly as stunning, but a surprising change of pace.
Look and smell. Caution about bee's though. We learned we can't convince it to grow down the other side of the arch. Doesn't grow downward I guess. Just hangs that way in blooms.
We had one at our old garden, and what you say is so true. Plus it was impossible to keep from climbing the pear tree next to the fence. I tried to keep my eye on it, but it was sneaky.
h-well: Ya have to admit, though, they sure are pretty when they bloom.
It's beautiful! I fell the same about dog wood trees. You see them for short time in the spring!
