  • I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down

    XangaAFTERWindyDay

Well, maybe not my house, but the wind was really blowing here Saturday and Sunday, and this is what's left of the rose bush that I showed you on Friday's blog. It must have happened sometime Sunday afternoon, because the rose bush was still there when I came home from church Sunday. Oh well, we'll just consider that a little "self pruning".

However, the wind didn't seem to bother the rose bushes in the back yard at all. Today the wind was not blowing so vigorously and I managed to get this shot in one of the moments when the roses weren't waving in the wind too terribly.

And here is my very first peony to bloom in the new yard.  I just love peonies. Most likely because we had them in our yard when I was growing up.

  • Oh darn* so sorry about your rose bush, but aren't they pretty hardy..? I think so and if you have a green thumb like your sister...ha* wow..you have nothing to worry about:smile: I love peonies:what-fun: they are just so 'full' of petals...so happy you have your 'first' one :what-fun::applause: have a great day...hugs and love, Lee:love:

  • What a pretty peony.  I had a couple in New Hampshire.  I need to add that to my list of perennials to get.

  • Unbelieveable!

We had peonies as I grew up. They aren't here in TX. Nor are lilacs and lily of the valley.

  • Your rose has such a beautiful shape. back in the days when I was cake decorating that's the shape I tried to duplicate. your peony brings back memories. :sunny::love::love::love:Mom

  • Such a shame the wind did so much damage to your rose bush. The wind has blown here so bad today I couldn't get out and finish planting the pots and the few fill in plants in the beds. Tomorrow is supposed to be as bad just from a different direction.

Have a blessed week & God keep you safe, healthy & happy.  HUGS

  • The Rose bush will recover, I'm sure, but what a shame. Oh, well, it really was too tall for its width, anyway. The rose you pictured does have a beautiful shape.
