Blame it on Alice. . . she's the one that turned me into a lily nut. Above are pictures of just 6 of the 47 lilies that I ordered along with Alice. I believe she held her order down to only 19 lilies. My initial order was over 120 but Alice reminded me that I don't have that much room in my yard, so I had to look long and hard at all the offerings and take into consideration such factors as: beauty, when they bloom, if they are re-bloomers, their height as well as price per lily. Even at that I'm not sure right now just where I'll put all of the new 47 lilies, but I'm sure we'll find a home for them somewhere in the yard.

  • Wow - I hope this isn't contagious!  But I really do love strawberry candy.

  • I think that it IS contagious. :applause: You picked some pretty ones, though. :sunny: :giggle:

  • You can't believe how many lilies a friend that raises them gave me. We planted a wonderful bed and after our last winter only one lone yellow one bloomed. I give up! I'm going to dig them all this fall and see if any are left that can be saved and bring them down to the house area from up on the hill by the entrance to the lane. Keep your fingers crossed!

  • What lovely flowers. I like Exotic Love & Sleigh Ride the best. :applause: Have a great weekend!

  • Alice got me going, too.  I limited myself to only buying 11 this summer.  We have a daylily farm about 25 miles from us.  They do a lot of hybridizing---developing their own varieties.  And, of course, they are all Wisconsin hardy.  I went to their website, looked at the flowers online and wrote down what I liked.  THEN I checked the price list.  Eliminated most of the ones I'd picked out because they were newer introductions that cost a small fortune.  One was over $100!!!!  I would love to have even more, but Ken refuses to put in any more flower beds---too many tree roots to contend with.  So, if I want a new lily, I have to take something else out.  I replaced a lot of hosta in order to make room for the 11 I got this summer.  I'd like to get more next year.  Ken even agreed that they were beautiful in the garden.  They were all blooming when the farm dug them up for me, and since they were bare root, had to cut them all back almost to the ground.  Killed me to cut off all those flowers!  And it was such fun wandering the farm's lily fields and figuring out what I wanted.  I had my own list along, but didn't get any of them---found others there I liked better.

The ones you selected are gorgeous.  I had Strawberry Candy on my list, but as I said, didn't get it.  Maybe next year.  I also like your Startle and Exotic Love.  Will have to check to see if they are available at Solaris Farms.  I really have to be sure they are suitable for our Wisconsin climate.  You can grow so many that I cannot.

  • i love seeing pictures of flowers. i usually do a few myself but all our flowers are wilted from the drown and heat. these are very beautiful.

  • If you run out of room, send a few my way.  Blessings for today.
