  • Well the large order of lilies (48 of them) came yesterday and I soaked them overnight and had intended to start planting them at 7:00 this morning. However, when my alarm went off at 6:30 I hit the snooze and went back to sleep for another half hour. By the time I got dressed and ate my breakfast (you MUST eat breakfast . . . it's the most important meal of the day) it was somewhere between 7:15 and 7:30. Then I had to go through them all and divide them up into buckets according to what part of the yard they were to be planted in . . . that took another half hour.  Finally I got started in earnest and after I planted about 8 of them it started to rain.  I went back out shortly after it quit raining and started planting again.  I must be fairly slow at this because I only got 23 of them planted today . . . taking time out for lunch, a short nap and supper.  Surely I can finish tomorrow.  I may never order another lily again.

  • I have a sedum growing. I like how it returns every year. I like how you bunched lunch/supper together. You'll get there!

  • You should have my hubby around.  I have never seen anyone plant plants as quickly as he can---outside of a professional.  When we planted the 11 lilies I bought this summer, it took no time at all.  Had to take out hostas in order to make room to put the lilies in, too.  I would have been like you, taking forever to get it done myself.  Guess husbands do come in handy once in a while!  lol  Bet it will look wonderful when you are done.  One of mine didn't make it, but it was a free one, so cannot complain.

Bet you will order more next year----I think you have caught the bug from your sister!  lol

  • Wow - 48 lilies!  I can't wait to see your garden next spring/summer!:good-job:

  • I agree with the previous comment--I think Alice has infected you & I bet more day lilies will be in your future!

  • I have done that and now have none since the drought and freezing we had the last few years. I also did that with Mums and now have one left after the same conditions. I'm being more selective now. Of course think you have better soil due to your preconditioning when you started work on the yard.

  • Whew! a lotof planting. may God give you strength.:love::love:Mom

  • I bet you sleep well tonight
