Well, I'm wondering if the spider is very patient . . . or just dead. He's not moved in 4 days. Tomorrow if he's still in the same position, I may just poke something in his web just enough to make him move . . . if he's alive.

UPDATE: To answer Gill's question . . . He scampered to the corner of his web when I stuck a flower right next to him. I'm glad he's alive and not dead.

I have ANOTHER guest in my garden. It's a big spider. Anybody know what kind he is? He's spun his web between my rose bush and the fence. The web is about a foot and a half wide by about 2 foot high, and Mr. spider is about 3" long by 2" wide. He's been in the same spot ALL day long. Boy! Is he ever patient.

My lily count is down drastically, so that makes every lily that blooms all the more precious. I had seven lilies blooming in my yard today. Three Stella de Oras, three Black Eyed Stellas and one Hearts Afire.  I wish they would bloom on in to September too.

We got a beautiful rainbow this evening, but only about 20 raindrops on the windshield. Perhaps we'll get a little better rain later on tonight, but I kind of doubt it.

No new evidence in my yard of the mole today, but there was a bit in my next door neighbor's yard. Now if he'll just stay over there.

One of my Jolyene Nicole lilies has started reblooming, and after 4 1/2" of rain (over a week and a half) followed by a week of just plain gorgeous weather it was trying to outdo itself. This bloom opened up yesterday and it was slightly over 7" across. It was gigantic . . . at least for a Jolyene Nicole. And it has 3 more buds waiting their turn to bloom.

I have a mole in my back yard and I had hoped that he had finally moved on to my neighbor's yard, but I saw evidence today that he's still in MY yard. I can tell you this . . . I do NOT like him. He's fiarly destructive and I need to convince him to go tunnel elsewhere.
