Sensative Briar Photo by Robert Culbertson (my dad)
This flower is called a Sensative Briar. It’s one of the many pictures of flowers that my mother wanted a print of when my sister Alice got a scanner that had the capability to scan slides. That’s what our father took mostly . . . 35 mm slides. We went through boxes and boxes and boxes of slides as mom picked out the ones she wanted for us to print out. Dad had taken these years ago for mom because she loved flowers and was in some sort of club where they went out and found all kinds of wild flowers. Dad wasn’t particularily interested in the flowers, but he was an outdoorsman and an avid photographer so he was a natural as her documenter. I think he’d approve of what Alice and I have done with some of his old pictures, and I think he’d be intrigued with what we can do with our new fangled digital cameras and computer software.

:( Oh, how I wish daddy was alive and could have fun with a digital camera and computer. He would have loved it. :heartbeat:
I’ve never seen those here in the States. We used to have them growing wild in Ecuador all the time and I loved them
They’re so soft and fuzzy looking. My dad is an amateur photographer … but some of his stuff is phenomenal. He’s kept his negatives and is slowly going through it all again with the computer to make copies for all of us kids (that’s ..5 kids) I have a feeling he may just put it all on disk and we’ll each get discs, which would still be very wonderful.
Thanks for putting a name to the little wildflowers of my youth. I loved the way their leaves closed when I touched them. Thus the ‘sensitive’ part of the name, I suppose.
I think he would, too.

Well, I love the pictures and from my own experience, I know your dad would have loved the digital camera. I love mine and intend on posting some of my photography. I am just learning how to use the Xanga Premium. A lifetime membership was bought for me by a dear friend who thinks I need to be on the computer working away more than I do, LOL. I do have a lot of my photos posted on sites and if you are interested in seeing some of them, you can visit http://flyingpigwebdesign.com/Photography/RSBlainPhotography.html and

All pretty much different and possibly boring but I loved doing it. I need to do more of it, practice makes you better and better.
I appreciate your visit to my site. You mentioned your mother is working on learning the computer. Try to get her just writing possibly memoirs on her email program. When I was on AOL (many moons ago and never again) when we first started that is what I did, just write poetry on the email program and it gave me a start at saving things in my computer and working with fonts and things. She will love it if she gets caught up in it like I have. It’s such a friend.
Guessing I have taken up a lot of your time and shouldn’t but I do enjoy typing away. It’s good for the brain.

i, like my mom remember these little flowers vividly – don’t see them here in california though!
Big Fish: Loved the movie. It’s quirky, to be sure, but there’s an underlying message there that really hit home with me, especially in light of what we are going through with my father right now. I would see it again.
I had to stop back to see your beautiful pictures again. I need to do some catching up on photography but here in the winter, good photos get a little scarce. First nice day, picnic at the park. LittleE
:sunny: Love you site and the pictures. I know the ones your Dad took are especially cherished.
