  • Cotswolds Cat                                                                         Photo & enhancement by Chris Duffy

Oh, the headaches of picking out wallpaper.  We’ve wanted to rewallpaper the guest bathroom in our present house ever since we moved in a year and a half ago and we’re finally getting around to that project.  But, I can’t seem to make up my mind on which paper to choose.  We walk into the wallpaper place and there are several hundred wallpaper books to look through, and who has time to go through them all?  I found a couple patterns that I like, but they’re not PERFECT so I keep wondering if one of those other books has just the right pattern in it.  My husband is so impatient, he just wants me to choose one, ANY one.  I thought we were going to spend a couple hours in the store to find the paper, but after 10 minutes, hubby wanted to take two books home and pick one out there.  I knew I shouldn’t have agreed to him going along.

  • I don’t envy you the task.  I’m not much of a wallpaper fancier, although I’ve found a few I’d use if I were repapering the kitchen (which I plan to some day, since the paper that was on the walls when we bought it doesn’t match my stuff so well)… but we’re removing wallpapers and borders from other rooms right now, rather than putting up more.  Good luck finding the perfect one!

  • That cat makes me think of my cat, Muffin. She lived to be 17 yrs old. I havent had a cat since her. She was so wonderful…..I could even thaw meat out on the counter without her getting into it! I know what you mean about being overwhelmed by wallpaper books! I have always caved in and done a faux painting technique instead. The one “wallpaper” I used was in my front powder room. And that was the actual pages of old books. Turned out super!

  • I have a similar problem…only I have the wallpaper and don’t know where to put it.  :sunny:

  • I couldn’t even get my hubby to go to lowe’s with me yesterday….hmmmpphh…what is it with these men, anyway?!?!?

  • Sounds like a typical man.

  • Good point, if his aim is to “get it done” then he probably shouldn’t have to endure the “I-just-can’t-find-the-exact-thing-I-want” phase of the decorating process. Mike

  • That is the greatest picture.  It has to be wonderful to see places with such charming little homes.

Wallpaper, honey, don’t take him with you.  Plan on a day or a couple days to find the right one. It took me several weeks of long days to find what I wanted and as it’s up for a long time, it’s worth spending the time.
