Photo and enhancement by Chris Duffy
This picture was taken while I was in Palm Beach on a business trip with my husband. I just love bougainvilleas. So much so, that we planted several of them in our yard in Dallas . . . I know . . . we SHOULD have known better. We had kind of hoped that the secluded little corner we put them in would be sufficiently shielded from the cold that they could make it. It’s the side yard and it’s at a part where it’s only about 5 ft wide and is bordered by a fence on two sides and a house on the third side, with the only exposed side being the East side and so we thought they’d survive, but not so.
I’ll put something a lot more hardy there this spring.

I have some wonderful memories with bougainvilleas
One of these days, I’ll have to put up my pictures I took of some out in the jungle in Ecuador last summer.
I see them, and they make me smile.
:heartbeat: I love bougainvilleas, too. And that is a gorgeous picture.
Beautiful photo! Bougainvilleas are some of my favorite Florida flower, kinda redundant since Florida means flower in Spanish. Aren’t you in Texas? What zone? Sometimes we lose plants her during the winter we have to cover them up some days. I love crepe myrtle too and they usually do well in parts of Texas too don’t they? :sunny:
:goodjob: Wow! Twelve crepe myrtles! I would love to see photos of your garden. :sunny:
Gorgeous. I really like them, too. Maybe in our new place . . .
