Charleston, South Carolina graveyard Photo and enhancement by Chris Duffy
I really can’t tell you why I like old grave yards so much. I really can’t. But I do know they have to be old. I don’t get a charge out of going to recent graveyards, and by recent I mean less than 50 years old. I just like the old grave stones and how they’re weathered and especially when you can just barely read the names and dates. I really liked how this little plot had it’s own black wrought iron fence. My husband is not usually inclined to stop the car so I can take pictures of old graveyards, but this one was in the middle of town where we were taking a walk, and we simply stumbled upon it.

They have some really neat grave yards in Savannah, Ga. and New Orleans too. I went nuts at Arlington National Cemetery, it was my favorite place in DC. My dh says that I have dragged him through every old cemetery in the South! Not quite but I too love old graveyards but usually I am looking for ancestors since I dabble in genealogy. Oh and Alexandria, Va has some wonderful old graveyards. Weird aren’t we? wink Please take pictures of the ones in England when you go, I would love to see them! :giggle:
There is just so much history in older cemetaries.
You commented on my blog that I didn’t look old enough to have my baby in the Army. You’d be right. It’s my husband! :sunny: Thanks for stopping by!
:sunny:There’s charm in this pic. Shadows and lots of purple tones are great but most of all like the trees there.
I have pictures of this exact graveyard from my trips to Charleston! I knew exactly where that was before I read your blog! TOO COOL! :coolman:
I think I’d have to stop at that one, too… even if you weren’t in the car :)
I love cemetaries, have a page up at

Had to take down some off my ISP because of bandwidth problems. Hope to get them back up when I get back from trip. best save money to pay a server without pop up’s though. :)
Hey, BLB. Thanks for the URL. I visited it and found it to be quite interesting. I’d REALLY REALLY like to visit the one in Ireland.
