  • Bourton on the Water in England . . . . photo and enhancement by Chris Duffy

I thought this house was really unusual.  It’s right up to the river’s edge.  Look closely and you can see the stepping stones from the back yard to the front yard IN THE RIVER.  Can you just imagine standing at the kitchen sink doing dishes and looking out the window at this river as your view.  WOW.

It would be interesting to dig up the picture of this same house from our 1996 trip to see how it’s aged . . . or hasn’t aged.  Heck, when your house is over 200 years old and made of Cotswold stone, what’s another 8 years?  Here in Texas we have Austin stone and I’d love to have a house built and covered with Austin stone, but I think it would be terribly cost prohibitive . . . at least for OUR pocketbook it would.

  • That’s pretty sweet.

  • I could be happy in that house, by that river. wink

  •  :goodjob:Oh yeah! Count me in that house!!! Absolute Heaven!!! I’ve seen  Texas stone on the Capitol isn’t it in Austin and there is some special stone on the San Jacinto Monument isn’t there? In Tennessee there is Tennessee sandstone which is quite pretty and they use for buildings and of course Tennessee limestone and Tennessee marble. Beautiful photos Christine! Thanks for sharing the sights of England! :heartbeat:

  • Truly a magnificent life style.  I saw in a magazine years ago, a home that had a stream running thru the living room.  It was something in itself.  I’ve never forgotten that.  I can smell new mown grass as I sit here typing.  Put me on that river bank with that house and with that new mown smell and I’ll call it heaven.
