  • Well, I bit the bullet today.  I ordered a new computer for home.  It cost a little bit more than I wanted to have to pay, but I sure don’t want to buy one that’s outdated the day after I buy it, so I went for as much computer as I could afford.  I’m actually having it customized to fit my needs (excuse me, WANTS).  And, it’ll sure be nice to be able to apply the filters when I’m enhancing my photos without having time to fix myself a cup of tea while I wait for the filter to “apply” itself.  And it certainly will also be nice to not have to reboot my computer three or four times per evening because it keeps locking up.  Now, what do I do with THIS old one, that I hope and pray lasts until I get my new one in about two weeks?  So, how do I recycle it?   Don’t have a boat, so I can’t use it as an anchor.

  •  :sunny:   No Boat???   Darn, I thought we all had boats to tie the old ones to so we could just throw them over and fagedaboutit.  I know that isn’t true, I’d die before I just threw it like garbage.  I have given a lot of old computer things to schools.  They have never refused taking them.  I think in some of the vocational classes they can use them and who knows?

I am glad to hear you are going to have a new computer.  Very nice. :sunny:

  •  :lol:ROFLOL I know what you mean about old computer parts. I have a son in law who seems to be able to salvage just about anything so I usually burden him with mine. I also would suggest a school perhaps private that doesn’t recieve federal or state funding and therefore can’t afford much on their own. I know there are some schools for the handicapped and seniors that would love to have any computer but please make sure you have a computer guru clean it throughly before you donate it to anyone, you wouldn’t believe the information that is unknowingly stored on these things.

:goodjob:Congrats on the new machine. May I ask what you got as I am looking at a new one myself somewhere in the future? :sunny:

  • :goodjob: This is great news, Chris. I know how frustrated you’ve been with the old one. Now we’ll both have an XP, too.
