House in Eureka Springs, AR Photo and enhancement by Chris Duffy
There’s just something very inviting about a front porch. It speaks of a more congenial time when neighbors knew their neighbors. I can imagine many an evening with people sitting out on this porch and having long coversations with their neighbors as they walked past and paused to chat. My sister Alice and I found many such homes in the wonderful town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas when we took our annual “sister trip” to Northwest Arkansas last year. I liked the geraniums on the front step too.

:sunny: beautiful pictures, you and your sister both have such refreshing posts and outlooks :coolman:
its great to have your sister to travel and share things with
I don’t know about you, Chris, but I’m getting awfully anxious to plan our next sister trip. All we have is a month and a town so far.
I like porches, too. Where are you two going this year?
I think that I remember that house in Eureka Springs! There were so many lovely houses there. Did you take in the Passion play there?
To answer your questions. . . We’re going to Austin, TX this year because that’s close and therefore cheap. She just bought a house and I just bought a new computer so neither one of us has a lot of spare cash this year.
And, no, we didn’t take in the Passion play while we were in Eureka Springs.
Would it be as hot there as here in TX? I’d love to move there and sit on a front porch.
I have heard that Eureka Springs is a lovely place. I love houses with front porches. When we built ours I specified that we had to have a proper front porch, and a few years ago my husband gave me a porch swing for my proper front porch!
We all have porches here. They are very nice and friendly
