Split Rail Fence picture in Mississippi Photo taken by a helpful stranger
Left to right: Alice, Dave, Chris and Mom
You may recall that on my July 29th blog mom asked me where the “grown up” version of the split rail fence picture was and I told her it was on my hard drive at home . . . it wasn’t. But (a big fanfare here) Alice found it and sent it to me. You can compare it with the the much earlier version below.

And . . . (a drum roll here) for the person who asked what my dad looked like since he was hardly ever in any of the pictures because he was the one taking them all, here is one of my sister’s favorite pictures of daddy . . . doin what he loved . . . boating on the Mississippi River.

Robert E. Culbertson Photo probably taken by mom
I stand corrected . . . Alice tells me her husband Warren took this
picture in 1962 or 63. Thanks, Alice.

What a nice family you have! Thank you so much for sharing your family photos with us. I know they are precious to you and well they should be. What wonderful memories pictures evoke.
I have a picture of my Dad boating, posed just about like that! :) My Dad had a chew of tobacco in his mouth.
Nice looking photos.
That picture of your Dad would make a great painting. Or how does PaintPro work on human pictures? Having an old and a current picture at the same site is so great. What creative way do you plan to display them?
You have such a nice family. It made me miss mine. I can’t wait to return to Kansas over Thanksgiving. Sometimes I hate that I live so far away from them. Your dad looks like he’s in his element on that boat.
Imagine the work to build those fences. It’s strange when I see your dad’s picture I think of mine. Not that they resemble each other, but the calming expression. I miss my dad.
Thanks for sharing your pictures of England. Only way I’ll ever visit there.
Ah, memories  I love this post. I believe that Warren took that shot of Daddy. It was taken the same day as the one with he and I with the fish, which is really the one I like best. That was after Warren and I were married, believe it or not. We were back in Illinois visiting when KJ was a baby. Just the three of us were out on the river one morning running trot lines. Should be 1962 or 63
I tried to write a comment this morning, but I became too emotional. Thanks for putting your Dad’s picture in your blog love mom
Nice pics. Your sister Alice is very romantic-looking
Re your comment: I don’t think its sad that I don’t like my mother who played mind games on everyone and also beat shit out me and loads of other things. I think its sad that she didn’t love me enough to ever inspire even liking. She’s not on speaking terms with me right now as I wanted her to have my kid for 2 weeks (I encourage a good, relationship between them) and she said a week is enough (for three flights and 5000 miles to get there). She says I’ve caused her high blood pressure with my demands… There you go.
I don’t know why I just told you all that.
I really enjoyed seeing your family pictures! :fun: I bet it was fun climbing on the fences for the pictures. I love the picture of your dad in the boat. :goodjob:
