  • Barton Springs Veranda     Photo and enhancement by Chris Duffy

I just got back from going to a movie.  I went with the neighbor lady because my husband was not interested in seeing a “chick flick”.  To say that he wasn’t interested is an understatement.  He flat didn’t want to go see a “chick flick”.  But he was perfectly willing that I should go and so Lorry and I went.  I loved it.  We saw The Notebook.  I’m really glad Mike didn’t go, because he would have hated it, and he’d have grumbled about having to sit through it.  So, it’s best I didn’t coerce him into going.

It’s a wonderful and very sweet love story. . . but bring lots of tissues if you’re the weepy type (like me).

  •   :coolman:Some movies are best watched alone or with a gal pal. wink I have been planning to see The Notebook also. Thanks for the warning, I should take a whole box of tissue then…..

  • Is that Barton Springs in Austin, TX.  I’ve been there and never seen the veranda.  It’s a great picture.  I want to sit down with my lemonade and rock in the chair.

  • I love good love stories and will have to put that one on my list.  We just got a couple of chick flicks this past week I hadn’t seen and loved them.  If you haven’t seen What Women Want and 50 First Dates, I liked the both, especially 50 First Dates.  He gets a bit carried away silly a couple of times but the overall story is super.

Your photo above, that is one you had up before and I loved it both times.  It looks so just sort of peaceful thinking of a row of people just rocking away on a veranda.  Very neat and nostalgic thing thinking about that.

  • Love that picture!  Reminds me of a southern version of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.  And speaking of the Grand Hotel and “chick flicks”, did you see “Somewhere in Time” with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour?  One of my favorites.

Thanks for stopping by my site.  Am sure your former boss knows about Whistling Straits and the tournament.  It has been on the news so much–is even outshining the Packers this week.  And that is hard to do!!  Expensive course, though.  Costs up to $222 a round–not including tips and caddy.

  • I just love your pictures.  I’d love to be sitting on that veranda right now with a glass of iced tea (not that sweet tea stuff) and my knitting.  Much nicer than todays chore of ironing.  I love also the split rail fence pictures and the one of your dad.

  • Chris when you are here you will  have to at least glance at the book in my Library

  • OOPS!  As LittleEgypt pointed out, I did indeed already post this picture . . . well, at least the original photo.  I had forgotten that I’d already used it.  It’s heck getting old.

  • It’s a relaxing picture.  I’m glad you posted it again.  I’ve gone to see a chick flick a time or two with my daughter.  Fun times!  :sunny:

  • hi.. you dk me.. and i dk you.. but im juss droppin by random props..

  • Is that a convalescent or old people’s home? It looks like a place to be peaceful and alone in. Time to sit and stare, conversation not encouraged.

  • SavonDuJour asked if Barton Creek is a convalescent or old people’s home.  No, it’s a luxury resort, with spa and a couple golf courses.  It’s where my employer had a business meeting for our team back in June.  Seems corporate sponsored an event there earlier this year and it was under-attended so we ended up with a big credit balance that needed to used, and our team was only too happy to accomodate.

  • I saw that movie with my granddaughter….loved it! I do want my hubby to see it with me(will probably wait until it cimes out on video) because they reminded me so much of us. I feel safe in knowing that my husband is a bit unusual when it comes to seeing “chick flicks”……..he usually likes them.

  • I would love to see the movie… even though I know the plot and the ending, thanks to the scene-by-scene recital last evening from my sister  wink

  • I’m glad you didn’t make me go with you. I probably would have grumbled through the whole thing, too. Love the photo, though. Mike
