  • The Cloister at Ephrata       Photo & enhancement by C Duffy

Pretty stark, huh!  Sometimes I think it would have been neat to live in those more simple times . . . that is until it’s time to do the laundry and fix a meal.  Then I’m ever so grateful for all my modern conveniences.  I would NOT have made a good pioneer.

This picture was taken at The Cloister in Ephrata, which Alice and I visited when on our Chesapeake area sister trip two years ago.  All the buildings were old and either made out of stone or clapboards.  It made for some really nice pictures, but I wouldn’t want to live there.  I was going to tell you where it was located . . . more than just the Chesapeake area, but I can’t find the “log” of that trip.

  • Have you ever watched that show Pioneer house or whatever on the public station.  Those women had it really bad.  All they did was sit around a fire and cook or do laundry.  Not very appealing.  I feel lucky to be born when I was.

  • Beautiful picture. The stone wall is lovely.
Yeah… it is fun to imagine living back then. People behaved better back then too I bet.

  • It is located in Ephrata, PA, Chris. You have the picture labeled that way, in fact. :giggle: I loved that place too and got so many good shots in our short visit to the Cloister.
And I hate to contradict you,  :p but it is my opinion that you would have made a good pioneer. Not that it would have been that much fun, but what it required, I believe, was a willingness and ability to work, which you have in spades.

  • That’s a neat picture.  :goodjob:  I’m also glad to be living with modern conveniences.

  •  :goodjob: :heartbeat:mom

  • I knew it was in Ephrata, but I just couldn’t remember what STATE Ephrata was in.  I KNEW that you’d know. Thanks.
