  • Sunset on Bull Shoals Lake                         Photo by Chris Duffy

Well, I didn’t make it till midnight last night.  Almost, but not quite.  We stayed up till the big ball dropped in Time Square, which made it 11:00 our time.  Our company wanted to go to bed and we didn’t really want to stay up another hour, just so we could say we saw in the new year.  So by the time I closed down the kitchen, took my bath and got into bed it was 11:45. I thought surely I’d be able to keep my eyes open long enough to at least peek at the alarm clock as it changed from 11:59 to 12:00, but the next time I remember glancing at the clock it said 12:45, so I missed it altogether.  No big loss.  It seems less important to me as the years go by.

Update on Millie and Viola.  Both are doing great. In fact, yesterday Millie was up trying to make sure everyone had their ice tea refreshed or had enough Coke, when a couple of her cousins put their foot down and told Millie that if she didn’t sit down and rest they were going to leave.  After all, what were they there for if not to wait on her and Viola hand and foot . . . so Millie reluctantly sat down and let everyone else do their stuff.

  • Great that the transplanter and -ee are doing well. My sister had a transplant several years ago, but it has since failed. I hope that these two both have many years of health ahead! Happy New Year!

  • Thanks for the update on Millie and her mom. Janice is also doing well, as well as her cousin who donated the kidney.

I did stay awake long enough for the new year to come in — by playing scrabble online with a total stranger. At least I had someone to say Happy New Year to when the time came.

I have a feeling with your hectic week off with company that three naps are what you probably needed today.  :heartbeat:

  • That’s great that the donator and donatee are doing so well, that’s quite a painful surgery!!

I don’t find ringing in the new year to be a big thing anymore….especially since I still have 2 children that get up very early in the morning :sleepy: I figure that the year will still be new in the morning when I awaken!

  •  I’m afraid I forgot the New Year altogether. Your Father always liked to see the New Year in,sometimes he even welcomed it  by shooting his gun!I pray that this coming year will be good to us.  :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat:Mom

  • Happy New Year!  I love your pictures so much–wish I could just go with you to carry your camera bag or something.  They are always so beautiful!

  •  …great pic! Something pensive about pics taken at dusk.
…you were in good company, seems many us snoozed in the New Year.  wink MuSe

  • That is a beautiful picture! :goodjob:  I went to bed early on New Year’s Eve, and was awaken by neighborhood fireworks at midnight.  For some reason I coundn’t go to sleep last night and stayed up until 3 a.m.

  • Sounds as though you had a very busy holiday time, too.  I loved every minute, but it is nice to get back to a so-called “normal” routine again.

Glad the surgical gals are doing so well.  They SHOULD be waited on for a while!!

Have enjoyed all your pictures since I have been on Xanga.  You and Alice take such good ones.  I plan on getting PSP in this month.  Then will have to spend a LOT of time learning it.

  • Re: your comment on my xanga. I WANT THE RECIPE  :sunny:

  • Alice, I’ve printed out the recipes for you, mom and myself.  I’ll mail them.

  •  :goodjob: thanks, Chris  :)

  • Lovely picture! I’ve slept the new year in for years. It would be unusual for me to be awake.

  • I too find it less important as the years go by, I got into bad at 11. The year is still new in the morning. Happy new year and keep up the beautiful pics.

  • Beautiful pic!  and Happy New Year!
