Yet another house in Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Mission Accomplished. We’ve spent almost all week end taking down the Christmas decorations, and now I can say that the house is totally de-Christmased. Mike got smart this year and hired the high school boy from next door to help him get the boxes up in the attic. He earned his pay too. There are 42 large plastic storage bins with Christmas decorations in them and they’re all upstairs now. Mike also built a couple rows of shelves for the boxes to set on up there rather than just stacking them everywhere.
Not only that, but before they took the tree down, the young man actually found the ONE socket on the entire Christmas tree that didn’t have a bulb in it, thereby causing one small section of the tree to not be lighted. I had just pointed out to him that we had a non lighted section on the tree, but that Mike nor I could find the socket that was missing a bulb. I couldn’t believe it!!! It only took him about 30 seconds to find the culprit.

I love this enhancement, Chris. :heartbeat: With all the Christmas decorations you guys put up, I can believe that it fills 42 big boxes. It took me about 5 minutes to undecorate from Christmas. wink
You sound like me with decorations. I compacted mine into 16 large containers this year, and I packed real tight. I also bought the bags to put the trees in and I am storing all the trees with lights left on this year. We only put up 5 trees this year, but one was a “real” tree which we haven’t had in years. I always hit the after season sales and pick up a few more decorations to have something new for next year. I still have one box to pack to have everything up, but with stuff in every room, I usually miss a few thing. So glad you have enough attic space and a young helper.
My son can do that sort of thing too–we nicknamed him ‘Hawkeye’. Isn’t taking the Christmas decorations away the most depressing thing?
…i’m with Alice, well, it may have taken me seven minutes. :spinning:

…in all your travels, I’m betting you’ll make Australia.
…i used to wonder if vacations were worth it when coming back to “catch-up”. I started taking shorter vacations with fewer repercusstions. :lookaround:
…good pic, Chris. Although not a Victorian fan, one can’t help appreciate the work. Hope some sense of normality has returned to your office.
Hi–I was just cruising through the photo-graphics blog ring and spotted your site. I live in Dallas too. Far North side. I love all your beautiful photographs. I admire people with an eye for beauty. I am going to be learning how to post pictures sometime soon I hope. I don’t know a lot about computers and am going to be taking some classes. If you don’t mind, I’d like to subscribe to you. You are such an interesting person!
That is a beautiful picture of that house. :goodjob: You are so fortunate to find someone to help Mike and you with that job. We still haven’t gotten ours down yet. Maybe, we’ll get it done next weekend.
When I took down the Christmas things in the Library it looked so drab that I left two snownen in their places. Cat head biscuits are regularbiscuits, only as big as a cat’s head. :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat:Mom
Oh good, mom. I feel a lot better knowing that there’s no part of a cat’s head IN the biscuits.
We had a phantom string of lights on the bush out front this year. One day not working, next it was and stayed working.
Not a string of lights on the market with multi colored lights to be had. Hope we remember early this year.
Sounds like you do extensive decorting! Did you take any pictures? I’d love to see what you did. I am still in the process of getting mine down. I tend to drag my feet……….it looks so bare where the lights have been……especially since out winter has been so gray so far. We’ve had FAR too much rain!
For the first time in years we did not have any strings go out sometime during the season. A miracle!
Will have to let Ken know how many bins you have to haul out and put away. He won’t grumble so much about our measly 15!!
I love that house, it has my dream porch :sunny:
