  • We're Back!!  And we had a WONDERFUL sister trip.  Actually it was a sister + friends trip and it was still WONDERFUL.  I'm going to fight the urge to put multiple pictures in one blog because these will have to last a whole year.  This particular picture was taken in HaHa Tonka State Park.  Erik (Alice's friend, and now MY friend as well) said that stood for Land of Laughing Waters . . . only I think he just made that up.  Too bad you don't get the sense of depth with the pictures.  They just can't convey adequately how far down that is.  This was on top of the hill where a large mansion once stood, but burned down in 1942.  I'll show you pics of that later.

COUNTDOWN: 4 more days until I retire.

  • Erik didn't make up "Land of Laughing Waters", although the owner of that castle we saw might have made it up. I remember seeing it on one of the displays we read. And Yes, I agree, we indeed have a wonderful time.  :heartbeat:

  • How wonderful your trip , the photo and your retirement! :sunny:

  • Yeeeaaaa   glad you only have 4 more days. Can't wait to see the rest of the pictures and hear about the trip.  My how blue the lake looks.

Have a blessed week & God keep you safe.  HUGS

  • Will enjoy seeing your and Alice's pictures in the future.  Now you will have LOTS of time to do fun things.  What do you have planned?   Now you and Alice can probably see each other more often, too.  Wish I lived closer to my sis in AZ.  almost 2000 miles apart is too far!

  • Welcome back. Looking forward to the pix and stories. Mike

  • No Erik didn't make it up: "Hahatonka Spring is the highlight of an intensely karst area featuring caves, natural bridges, tunnels, and sinks. Formerly known as Gunter Spring or Springs, Hahatonka was purchased in 1884 by Col. R. G. Scott, who renamed it, under the mistaken impression that the name meant "laughing waters". Hahatonka Spring and nearby River Cave are connected, according to divers who investigated during the late 1980's."

Gorgeous photo Chris! I love both your and Alice's site because you do such beautiful photogrpahy! Thanks for sharing.
